FIRST 31.7 CLASS ASSOCIATION

‘ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO SAIL A 31.7'

The Association is run by 31.7 sailors to provide support and information to people interested in sailing the 31.7 by organising a series of social and sailing events and maintaining the website.

The Association recognises that membership includes boat owners and crew members in both racing and cruising categories. Participation at all levels is encouraged with the main objective being to get more people into 31.7s and on the water. Our priority is to promote safe, recreational sailing around the UK and Europe. A number of the key features that the Association offers to achieve this are…

• The availability of technical information, advice and organisation of workshops
• A calendar of sailing and social events through the year
• A calendar of racing events when 31.7s will be represented as a single class or part of a handicap fleet
• Maintain the website as the primary method of communication between members.

What It’s Not – A prescriptive organisation seeking to control entry and participation to those individuals who want “full on” racing, hours in a protest room and achieving success by cheque book.

What It Is – A new and enthusiastic group with the aim of promoting safe and enjoyable sailing with like minded individuals supporting a number of key events during 2007 and possibly leading to a National event in 2008.
